Summary Job Category: Financial Operations Job Title: Financial Assistant Job Category Definition: This specialty covers the process of allocating and managing financial resources to enhance the acquisition and investment of unit resources as well as the overall management of income and expenditures. Functions include: treasury management, investments, cash flow analysis, banking, debt service, capital budgeting and general financial management. Job Title Definition: The Financial Assistant processes various financial transactions, adheres to the approved systems of internal control and financial management; may focus work in one area, such as accounts receivable (including student accounting), accounts payable, expense processing and wage payroll entry and review. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title. Working Conditions: Specific physical requirements and effort are outlined in Job Responsibilities Worksheet (list of essential job duties and responsibilities specific to a particular job at the unit level) in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). Typical Work Duties Perform basic student accounting functions; accept registrations and payments related to student receivables (credit and non-credit), post to appropriate systems Perform non-student receivable functions; accept and post payments to appropriate system Perform basic cash handling functions; prepare deposits and enter Reports of Cash Receipts Enter human resource and wage payroll forms into appropriate systems Reconcile purchasing card charges for assigned cardholders or accounts Enter expenditure documents or transactions, including eBuy, IDCCs, and SRFCs; resolve direct bills in FANS Enter ERS reports as an assigned delegate for employees Enter data into inventory systems Enter and submit budget amendment forms Assist staff in supported units with basic inquiries; direct questions to appropriate individuals in office; enter updates to communication sites File documents as directed by supervisor Gather files and documents requested for audit purposes Assist with office management tasks; answer phone, order supplies, manage calendars
